VX in 124 spider
planning on using a VX in my 124 spider,
are there more problems to expect, other than Flywheel and available space?

Hello Jack
VX lump will go - i am assuming you a using the Lancia Beta Volumex engine.
Problems you are going to have are as follows;
Cam boxes, oil levels are different due to 20 degree engine tilt.
sump, again designed for 20 degrees.
Oil pump, as above.
Distributor - as its at the back of the exhaust cam.
Angle of the inlet manifold and carburettor manifold, will tilt down 20
degrees when fitted to a 124.
Flywheel you know about already!
You will deed a beefier clutch and i think you will need your flywheel
altered to take the VX clutch.
You need to also fit the needle roller bearing fitted to the back of the VX crank to support the input shaft to the gearbox.
These are your main problems, wiring and fuel system is easy by comparison.
If you had a VX Spider engine or the even rarer Argenta SX it would be a lot
easier.
Distributor can be modified to Digiplex (my VX HPE has this fitted) you will need a distributor cap fitted to the front of a cam.
Most people look for the ultra rare exhaust cam box with distributor take off from the Abarth, but thats just a stupid lazy ..... expensive way of
doing it.
Unfortunately i have deleted photos for my distributor mod which i did to a
Lada Riva 2000 (Lancia Beta) a few years back.
It can be done as i said but its a little more difficult than first thought
Regards,
Hutch.
